imaginary numbers
The rather unfortunate name given by Earth mathematicians to the square root of minus one and its multiples. Real-world term: Wikipedia.
imaginary space
See hyperspace.
imaginary time
Dimension of time existing at right angles to normal time. This dimension is were the Many Worlds of quantum physics are located. Getting lost in Imaginary Time is a major hazard of careless hyperspace navigation. This risk is a major reason why the GEC does not allow humans to operate faster-than-light ships by themselves.
